A Russian passenger plane has crashed in Egypt leaving the only reasonable explanation for the crash to be an "external influence". An executive from the airline that operated the flight said that planes don't just brake apart in midair. The executive was not specific about what he meant by an external influence. Experts say it is too early to know for certain what caused the plane to break up at the start of what could be a lengthy investigation. This could mean it can affect the travel and tourism industry that people will not want to travel to this destination because they would obviously be afraid of going near the destination in case terrorism around the area that it happened. This would also mean that not many people will come to this destination which also leads to loosing out on money, so if you were to go there it would be cheaper.
To improve on making things better, they will have to change how to keep the cockpit safe on the plane to stop terrorist attacks for example 911 when a terrorist got in the cockpit and that's when things got in danger whereas now they have improved on making things safer by have locks on the inside of the cockpit so then nobody can get in that part. They may have improved on that but from this crash it says they reckon it may could of been shot down. In the past there was Malaysian flight that had been shot down last year by the Russians when it flew over Russia with Missiles and caused an explosion. This also leaves clues to maybe it could of been shot down by Missiles to get back at the Russians.
The value for International tourism, number of arrivals in Egypt was 9,174,000 as of 2013. As the graph below shows, over the past 18 years this indicator reached a maximum value of 14,051,000 in 2010 and a minimum value of 2,871,000 in 1995. This shows that from 1995 they had a lot of tourists that went there and then it started to increase and looked like Egypt was a great place to go to for a holiday destination up until 2008. From 2010 there was a largely decrease on tourists that went there, this is because of terrorist attacks that have been happening like back in 2013 when 2 Egyptian police were killed in the Pyramids so this would have put off tourists from going there. Another was a suicide bomber that attacks Egypts Luxor temple tourist site which is a popular tourist attraction so this would also have put people off from going there but also its put people off from going to Egypt itself.
The tourists are returning despite continued political tensions and the emergence of an affiliate of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, known as Isis, in the northern Sinai peninsula. For example this is what someone has said about coming back "We came here because of the terrible weather in the UK and we thought that Egypt will be quiet now without so many tourists and crowds", this could mean that they might increase on tourists again.
Cruise lines and tour operators continued to tweak itineraries Sunday as the unrest in Egypt escalated, leaving travelers on edge during what is the peak season for Nile River cruises. Two MSC ships, MSC Splendida and MSC Magnifica, were expected to call at Alexandria over the next few days, but they're being diverted.

The factor is technological Developments
What are the development in technology that have an impact on the travel industry?
In the past few years they've seen profound traction in the ways technology can enhance and amplify travel experiences. Here are some of the trends they've identified for 2015. 'Mobile apps will continue to simplify every aspect of travel.' They have mobile apps for every aspect of travel because people now use apps to do things. This may be easier for people who like to do it off an app instead of online or they might not be able to get online so then this is where the app can be used by people as well. An example of a travel app is Alaska Airlines. They already have made it easier to plan, manage, and share their travel experiences. Another trend is 'New tools will speed up airport logistics'. In 2015, the traveling public should see Passport Express show up at more airports. This is the new automated passport control system that recently debuted at Miami International Airport.

The trend is Greater Flexibility
Mobile travel bookings to drive growth
With the increasing use of the Internet over mobile phones, travel companies say mobile bookings might soon overtake those done through other devices. With e-ticketing one of the largest segments in Indian e-commerce, mobile booking is expected to see a surge in 2015. An example of travel booking app is MakeMyTrip. It is one of the country's largest online travel companies, says more than a third of its unique visitors come via mobile, which represents 24 per cent of all online transactions. Here are a few list of statistics to show the growth of people using booking apps and how popular they get.

How are business travel agents responding to changes in technology
Mobile is certainly not a new phenomenon in the travel industry and has helped many travel companies - which can include travel agents. A key factor for any successful travel company is to deliver an excellent customer service and develop strong relationships with customers. Apps are providing a valuable way for travel agents to achieve this goal. You will find many apps which help customers find travel options and book via a mobile device, but there are also specific apps for travel agents such as allowing travel agents to retrieve and change any bookings whilst out and about. This ensures they are able to maintain an excellent customer service, by offering round the clock care. Travel agents, ignore technology and its impact on travel agencies at your peril. Only a third of travellers (33%) are able to book travel on a mobile or tablet device. Technology has drastically changed business travel and how it is conducted. We take a look into how it has evolved since the 1980’s and what it has become today.

Cost of travel, Environmental concerns and development of technology
It found that 45.5% of the adult population had travelled by air in the last 12 months, up from 43% in 2004 and 39.4% in 2001. Revenues generated by airports in the UK rose by 6% to £2.82 billion in 2005, a rise of more than 15% since 2001. Passenger numbers were up by 5.8% to 228.2 million and air transport movements rose by 5.7% to 2.3 million, the report said.
Growth of independent travellers
Growing numbers of British holidaymakers to Spain are choosing to travel independently rather than take a package, according to figures released by the Spanish Tourist Office. The trend has been largely fuelled by the growth of budget flights. Last year no-frills airlines carried six million passengers to Spain - an increase of 44 per cent on the number for 2002.

What is Thomas Cook doing about this?
![Picture](/uploads/6/0/1/2/60128321/7830940.jpg?272)
The firm will attempt to sell flights, hotel rooms, car hire and train tickets separately to tourists who have rapidly become both more confident about creating their own holidays and doing without reps and organised transfer buses, and less willing to be shoe-horned into inflexible packages.
Thomas Cook has set its sights on the fastest-growing tourism market in the world, forming a joint venture to tap into China’s appetite for holidays at home and overseas. China’s domestic tourism has grown at more than 12 per cent a year since 2007. Inbound tourism to China was at 128 million visitors last year, up 10 per cent on 2013. Thomas Cook’s £10m campaign guns for families and independent travellers. The holiday company, which has been pursuing a turnaround strategy focused on “high tech, high touch” since the appointment of Harriet Green as CEO, is investing £10m in the crucial holiday booking period.
